Verno: AI garden planner and plant care app

Verno is an AI garden planner and plant care app for iOS and Android. It identifies plants from a photo, recommends plants for each area of a garden, builds a care schedule per plant, and adjusts watering to the local weather. Feeding, weeding, trimming, leaf cleaning and plant health checks are scheduled too.

What it does

Garden scan: Photograph a garden and get a list of the plant species in it.

Garden Advisor: Plant recommendations for each area, from climate, soil, aspect and hemisphere.

Plant care schedules: Watering, feeding, weeding, trimming, leaf cleaning and a health check for every plant, matched to its species, location and maturity. Watering adjusts to local weather.

Today's Tasks: One daily list of every care task. Watering is skipped after enough rain. Reminders by push, email and calendar sync.

Frequently asked questions

What is Verno?

Verno is an AI garden planner and plant care app for iOS and Android. It identifies plants from a photo, recommends plants for each area of a garden, builds a care schedule per plant, and adjusts watering to the local weather. Feeding, weeding, trimming, leaf cleaning and plant health checks are scheduled too.

What app tells me when to water my plants?

Verno. Today's Tasks lists what needs doing each day and skips watering when the rain of recent days and today's forecast are enough.

How does Verno identify plants?

Take a photo of your garden and Verno lists the plant species it can see and estimates how mature each one is (seedling, young, established or mature). It also infers how much sun the area gets from the camera direction and the surroundings in the photo. You can also add plants by name; each name is checked against a plant database so the care advice matches the right species.

What does Garden Advisor use to recommend plants?

Your location and local climate, soil type, the direction an area faces, your hemisphere, whether the space is indoors or outdoors, your preferred effort level, and anything you want to avoid, such as plants you are allergic to or dislike.

Does Verno remind me about more than watering?

Yes. Each plant's schedule also covers feeding, weeding, trimming, leaf cleaning and a health check for pests, diseases and deficiencies common to that plant, each in its own active months and surfaced as a daily reminder in Today's Tasks, and you can add your own tasks, such as a treatment for a disease you have spotted. Weather mainly changes the watering schedule: watering is skipped after enough rain.

Can I rely on Verno's plant identification and advice?

Treat it as guidance. It is AI-generated and can be wrong. Never eat or handle an unfamiliar plant based on the app, and check with an expert (a vet or poison control if pets or children may be exposed). See https://vernoapp.com/terms.

Does Verno store my photos?

No. Photos are sent to Google Gemini for analysis and discarded when the result returns. Verno has no image storage, shows no ads, does not track you across apps, and does not use your images to train AI models.

Does it work in the Southern Hemisphere?

Yes. Care schedules and seasonal watering account for your hemisphere.

Is Verno free?

Verno starts with a free month, counted from the first plant you add: three garden scans, three garden plans and three care schedules, plus Today's Tasks with push, email and calendar reminders. Free accounts see part of the Garden Advisor recommendations and plant health risks. Pro (monthly, yearly or one-time lifetime) unlocks all of them, keeps Today's Tasks and reminders going after the free month and raises the limits to 300 scans, 100 garden plans and 100 schedule refreshes a month.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, open Profile and tap Delete account. Without the app, see https://vernoapp.com/delete-account.
